Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's initial attempts at stardom in mainstream music were unsuccessful. Perry was signed to two labels and later dropped by them before any recordings had been released. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. The title song was a fun and playful single that garnered little or no attention. "I Kissed" a Girl was a more aggressive ode to sexism, accompanied by a hard edged electronic-pop beat. The track quickly caused debate as some critics accused it for promoting same-sex relations while others claimed that the racy scenario the song depicted sparked men's fantasies about sexuality in females. I Kissed A Girl's mix of sensuality, polished music and an enthralling chorus made it become a top-ten hit across a range of countries. The result was an album called The One of the Boys (2007) which was a huge success. The sharp and bouncey second track was well-loved. The album Perry composed in large part was sold to over 3 million people.
